ICONS OF IDENTITY

Icons of Identity is a photographic series born from dialogue and collaboration with members of Taiwan’s LGBTQIA+ community. The work celebrates individuality and the courage to express one’s identity beyond traditional norms.

Each image was created through personal encounters, conversations that shaped both the concept and the composition. Rather than simply taking portraits, I sought to co-create symbolic representations of each participant’s story. The resulting photographs are minimal in form yet powerful in meaning, using the purity of white backgrounds to remove distractions and focus entirely on the person and their message.

Visually, the project draws inspiration from the bold simplicity of Italian photographer Oliviero Toscani, whose campaigns used minimal design to confront complex social issues. Similarly, these images invite viewers to reflect on diversity, empathy, and shared humanity.

Through this series, I hope to offer a space for recognition and respect, where identity is not categorized, but seen, understood, and celebrated.

《Icons of Identity》系列攝影作品源自與台灣 LGBTQIA+ 社群成員的分享、對話與協作。本創作旨在讚頌個體獨特性，以及勇於超越傳統規範、表達真實自我的無畏精神。

每一幅影像都誕生於人與人之間的真摯相遇，那些深入的對話共同形塑了作品的概念與構圖。這不僅僅是肖像捕捉，我更希望與每位參與者共同創пусти了象徵其個人故事的視覺再現。最終呈現的影像形式極簡卻寓意深遠，透過純白背景的純粹性屏除一切干擾，讓觀者視線完全聚焦於人物本身及其傳遞的訊息。

在視覺語彙上，本計畫受到義大利攝影師 奧利維羅·托斯卡尼（Oliviero Toscani）大膽而簡潔風格的啟發，他擅長以極簡的視覺設計來直面複雜的社會議題。同樣地，這些影像也誠摯邀請觀者共同反思多元包容、同理心以及人類相通的生命情感。

透過這個系列，我期盼能開創一個充滿認同與尊重的空間——在這裡，認同不再被歸類標籤，而是被真正看見、理解並值得傾心慶祝。
